Serves in an intern capacity for a specified division or program of the Athletics Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Serves as a primary contact for a variety of athletic sporting events in areas such as media relations, marketing/development, facilities, and/or various administrative departments.
  2. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  3. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 6 months of directly related experience which may include or consist of Intercollegiate playing experience.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of a range of major and minor intercollegiate athletics activities and programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information.
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate on-call and/or student employees and/or volunteers.

Conditions of Employment

  • Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required in this position.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
