The following statements are intended to describe, in broad terms, the general functions and responsibility levels characteristic of positions assigned to this classification. Under general supervision, provides custodial services and routine security for continuing education classes held evenings and weekends at various Albuquerque Public School facilities throughout the city. Works on an on-call basis in accordance with classroom schedules and as otherwise required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Opens classrooms in time for scheduled classes to commence.
  2. Sets up and arranges classroom furniture as appropriate to class requirements.
  3. Ensures that classrooms are properly cleaned and serviceable for use.
  4. Checks and secures classrooms after each class.
  5. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Less than high school; no previous experience required.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.
  • Working knowledge of APS classroom facilities and APS policies and procedures related to classroom usage.
  • Ability to perform standard custodial procedures.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
