Provides vision, direction, leadership and oversight for both the UNM Health Sciences Center's Web presence and the UNM Health System web presence. The Health Sciences Center is the state's single, largest employer and the UNM Health System is the state's only level 1 trauma center and the largest provider of health services in the state. Serves as the primary point of contact on Web-related issues including overall strategy, site design and development, messaging, written and multimedia content creation, website templates, content management tools, analytics, usability, and information architecture. Acts as the chief evangelist promoting the public facing web site using appropriate methods of web messaging, communication and community building based on a in depth understanding of the Health Sciences Center, UNM Health and the Web. Collaborates with HSC Administration, faculty, staff, students and the local health community to promote effective communications between these groups within the public web communications channel based on the HSC's vision, mission and strategic goals. Manages the HSC Web Team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Oversees the daily operation of the HSC Web Team.
  2. Directs specific activities at the Health Sciences Center level to support web strategies, including but not limited to strategy development, web site and template design, web content management systems, web best practices, and HSC policies, procedures and standard operating procedures.
  3. Provides strategic web counsel to HSC leadership; serves as primary interface with other HSC constituencies in the implementation of web strategies.
  4. Provides management, oversight and support for the UNM Health System web site ? New Mexico?s largest health care provider.
  5. Acts as Stakeholder and/or Project Lead for application development projects that are publically viewable. Participates in database design and code reviews and application testing.
  6. Develops and manages annual personnel and operational budget for the HSC Web Team, the budget for outside resources and contracts, the budget for temporary and student hires and performs periodic cost and productivity analyses.
  7. Oversees and directs contracts with outside vendors for web design and support. Manages the RFP process. Works closely with HSC Administration to develop budgets and funding opportunities for outside vendors.
  8. Leads and coordinates the establishment of a set of integrated web policies, standards and standard operating procedures, and standards for the Health Sciences Center.
  9. Directs HSC units on development and editing of Web content for UNM Health, college and administrative unit web sites.
  10. Evaluates the effectiveness, usability, and accessibility of HSC?s web sites using analytics, A-B testing and other performance measures; identify needs and develop enhancements to the web presence and establish procedures for measuring customer satisfaction and insuring appropriate responsiveness.
  11. Works closely with HSC Administration and IT to develop a strategy for developing an HSC enterprise-wide Intranet solution to provide an internal communications channel and productivity tool set.
  12. Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  13. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply web design principles and techniques to the creation and enhancement of integrated, complex web sites.
  • Extensive experience with and knowledge of web communications, web site architecture, best practices and emerging web trends.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
