Summary

Maintains the donor database, prepares reports and provides analytical assistance in interpretation of fundraising results. Works closely with management and vendors to execute marketing plans. Implements procedural changes based on analysis and observation. May lead or guide lower graded staff and provide technical guidance, training and support in the daily operations of the department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintains analytical reports on fund raising activities; analyzes and summarizes financial and statistical data; assists management in the interpretation of results.
  2. Monitors, coordinates, and maintains customer service standards; trains and develops staff, students, and/or volunteers in customer service and customer relations skills.
  3. Serves as liaison with other constituencies in the resolution of day-to-day administrative and operational issues. Responds to inquiries and researches and resolves problems related to transactions handled by the unit.
  4. Participates in the development of operating goals and objectives for the unit; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations as appropriate.
  5. Coordinates and maintains processing systems for fundraising drives and associated fundraising activities.
  6. Coordinates implementation of yearly plans for direct mail campaigns; coordinates direct mail systems, procedures, and production.
  7. Works with vendors in the coordination of direct mail and fundraising drive processes.
  8. Coordinates, staffs, and facilitates fundraising activities and events as assigned.
  9. Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operation of the unit.
  10. Provides assistance and training to all donor-database users. Maintains current knowledge of donor database, maintenance, and reporting.
  11. Conducts file segmentations for all fund raising campaigns and works with Promotions and Marketing to execute e-mail fund raising campaigns.
  12. May represent the organization at business functions as needed.
  13. May lead lower graded staff, students, and/or volunteers.
  14. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Knowledge of and skill in the implementation various fundraising methods and techniques.
  • Project management skills and the ability to resolve complex problems and issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Knowledge of membership development and media fundraising principles and practices.
  • Ability to mentor and coach colleagues.
  • Knowledge of publishing processes, procedures, and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
