Provides direct telemarketing and closely associated services to a specified outreach activity, such as the University television station. Typically works on an on-call basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Places cold calls over the telephone to sell products and/or services associated with the outreach activity; follows specified instructions in the delivery of sales messages.
  2. Organizes and places multiple calls within a specified shift; maintains accurate records of calls placed and results of calls.
  3. Maintains daily sales and productivity goals, as provided by management.
  4. Prepares routine periodic sales and activity reports as required.
  5. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; no previous experience required.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Telephone sales skills.
  • Ability to meet and/or exceed established sales targets.

Conditions of Employment

  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
