Services and stocks coin operated vending machines. Maintains cleanliness of equipment. Maintains accurate service and inventory records.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Services and stocks coin operated product vending machines.
  2. Collects, secures, and transports funds removed from serviced vending machines to office.
  3. Operates motor vehicles to transport materials and equipment.
  4. Monitors shelf life and sales of products to minimize spoilage losses.
  5. Maintains accurate records of truck inventory and product movement to machine inventory.
  6. Resolves customer issues concerning vending products and machine malfunctions.
  7. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries, and post to records.
  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of coin-operated vending machines.
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to secure and handle cash.
  • Ability to drive motor vehicles.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Ability to make independent, routine procedural decisions.
  • Ability to identify and resolve routine operational problems.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

Conditions of Employment

  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
