Under general supervision, creates and assists with daily broadcast logs for KNME-TV and TalNet. Creates daily record schedules for KNME-TV and TalNet. Maintains database for traffic software as it pertains to the records and other related information. Provides customer assistance with all traffic related items. Maintains TalNet video library. Assists with viewer service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the creation and preparation of daily KNME-TV and TalNet broadcast logs and record schedules.
  2. Assist in identifying and resolving potential broadcast log and record schedule problems.
  3. Ensure timely and accurate broadcast logs and record schedules are delivered.
  4. Communicate with operators to assure accuracy of program times and tape numbers
  5. Provides technical support services including dubbing, editing, and screening for technical quality.
  6. Assist with daily proof reading of broadcast logs and record schedules.
  7. Update and maintain data from the daily record schedule.
  8. Assist other departments with any questions regarding the KNME-TV and TalNet broadcast logs. Provide assistance with customer service to viewers and/or members.
  9. Assist in the inventory of stock on hand, initiate paperwork to purchase additional stock when necessary.
  10. Lead, guide and train staff/student employees, interns and/or volunteers performing related work; participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
  11. Ensure adherence to established University and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
  12. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Ability to provide accurate and efficient service under the stress of constant deadlines.
  • Ability to detect, analyze and solve problems, and report information to appropriate personnel.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to find efficiencies and economies of scale to streamline workflow processes.
  • Ability to resolve departmental complaints and concerns as they relate to traffic functions.
  • Knowledge of organizational structures, workflow and operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of broadcast rules and regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate quality assurance programs in area of specialty.
  • Knowledge of procedures and practices as they relate to broadcast logs and records.
  • Knowledge of broadcast videotaping procedures, techniques and equipment.

Conditions of Employment

  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
