Summary

Under minimal supervision, coordinates and oversees the day-to-day activities and supports the integrated business operations of one of the University's golf courses. Assists in organizing tournaments and other special golfing events. Provides specialized advice, facilitation, and support in the community and collaborates with colleges, NCAA personnel, and outside community constituents. May oversee one or more specified operational or business functions for the golf courses.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, dismissing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
  2. Supports and assists in the coordination of the daily operations of UNM golf courses, including compliance with University, local, state, and federal policies and regulations.
  3. Develops and implements marketing activities for both golf courses, including the maintenance of customer distribution lists, website information, and social media.
  4. Assists with data collection and analysis related to golf course operations, to include sales on Pro Shop merchandise, golf rounds, green fees, customer relations, tournaments, and other operations as appropriate.
  5. Monitors and maintains integrity of cash-handling and fiscal procedures.
  6. Establishes and maintains appropriate customer services procedures and standards; interfaces with customers and resolves problems and conflicts as necessary.
  7. Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and objectives of UNM Golf Courses.
  8. Supports special promotional activities such as golf tournaments, outings, golf leagues, and clinics.
  9. Assists in coordinating the repair and maintenance of golf course facilities and landscape, to include the coordination of safety inspections and state fire marshal reporting.
  10. May participate in the planning, development, and implementation of strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the organization.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s)from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of general golf course operations and pertinent Federal, State and Local regulations.
  • Ability to support and assist in coordinating golf course operations and activities.
  • Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.
  • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement promotional programs and events.

Conditions of Employment

  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Work may, on occasion, involve exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 35 pounds.
