Summary

Facilitates day-to-day activities at UNM golf courses under general supervision and as directed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Promotes the game of golf and supports player development.
  2. Supports special promotional activities such as golf tournaments, outings, golf leagues, and clinics.
  3. Provides general course maintenance and ensures equipment and facilities remain in good repair. Reports concerns to leadership, as needed.
  4. Provides work allocation, training, and assistance to on-call staff related to areas of responsibility, as assigned.
  5. Collects and reconciles payments from customers using computerized or manual equipment; prepares routine reports of transactions, which may include accounts receivable/payable, orders, receipts, and/or bank deposits; reconciles transactions, identifies, and resolves discrepancies, as appropriate.
  6. Sells merchandise, services, tickets, passes, and/or rents equipment or facilities; advises customers on price, features, and/or on fees and services; may process orders and coordinate delivery.
  7. Performs opening and closing procedures associated with golf course operations.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of USGA rules and etiquette.
  • Familiarity with golf tournament software.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to operate a computerized cash register.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Knowledge of retail advertising, sales promotion and/or visual merchandising techniques.

Conditions of Employment

  • A valid New Mexico driver's license will be required if a motor vehicle must be operated on the job.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
