Summary

Coordinates and implements accommodations to allow students full participation in services and programs offered by the University. Implements accommodations in multiple learning environments. Works independently with faculty, staff and students to resolve accommodation-related issues.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Interacts with faculty, staff and students to address accommodation issues.
  2. Coordinates adaptive technologies and services to meet specific student requirements.
  3. Assists in accessibility-related programming and campus educational and assessment initiatives.
  4. Coordinates, supervises and monitors one or more of the following academic accommodations; text conversion, proctoring of classroom exams, allocation of ADA furniture, and access to lectures to ensure equal access to academic courses.
  5. Ensures that legally mandates accommodations and services are carried out in compliance with relevant federal and state laws, university and higher education policies, regulations, guidelines, and standards.
  6. Ensures confidentiality of all accommodation related information; maintains security of materials and other documentation relating to accommodations.
  7. Performs installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancements of computer/network hardware, software, and peripherals, as needed.
  8. May train lower-level employees and supervise students, interns, and/or volunteers engaged in similar activities.
  9. Responsible for tracking data specific to each accommodation by semester and academic year including assessment of accommodations to ensure consistency and quality of services for each student.
  10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.

  • Knowledge and understanding of ADA regulations, guidelines and standards as applicable to an academic and/or workplace setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA and related Federal and State privacy laws and regulations.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
