The following statements are intended to describe, in broad terms, the general functions and responsibility levels characteristic of positions assigned to this classification. Develops and implements Law School recruitment programs and related initiatives designed to attract the best possible pool of candidates in support of the school's enrollment objectives. Designs and coordinates law school admissions outreach services and associated events. Establishes and delivers a wide range of advisement and liaison services. Participates in or oversees the evaluation of applicant files for admissions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates programs, special projects and events, and other initiatives geared to recruiting students within targeted populations and facilitating admission into the Law School.
  2. Participates in the establishment and implementation of student recruitment strategies, resources, policies, and procedures for the School of Law.
  3. Independently represents and promotes the Law School at national, regional, state, and local recruitment events.
  4. Provides a full range of advisory and liaison services to prospective students and associated community constituencies regarding Law School admissions and related issues.
  5. Oversees and coordinates the front-line customer service activities of admissions staff, to include the provision of in-person and telephone information services to prospective and current students and other members of the public.
  6. Develops and implements outreach programs, events, and activities for recruitment and enrollment of students from targeted communities; enlists and coordinates faculty, law students, and/or alumni, as appropriate, in various recruitment programs.
  7. Assists the Manager of Admissions/Financial Aid, Law School, and the Law School Marketing Team with the development and management of a range of electronic and print materials that support the mission of the school and the department's recruitment and enrollment goals.
  8. Reviews individual applications and evaluates candidates for admission eligibility; troubleshoots applications with problems, and oversees and/or coordinates communications with applicants.
  9. Responds to inquiries and researches and resolves problems related to transactions handled by the unit; serves as liaison with other constituencies in the resolution of day-to-day administrative and operational issues.
  10. Participates in the analysis, design, development, and implementation of records systems and applications, as required to meet the evolving needs of the operation.
  11. Oversees and/or coordinates the collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, edits, and presents comprehensive statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations.
  12. May supervise the work of other staff, students, and/or volunteers.
  13. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • High skill in analyzing and interpreting the needs of customers in a mission driven environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to develop and deliver both oral and written presentations and to conceptualize, compose, and edit web-based and print materials for a variety of groups.
  • Skill in the planning, development, implementation, and coordination of student recruitment, retention, and support programs.
  • Knowledge of graduate admissions policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues at the graduate degree level.
  • Knowledge of higher education marketing trends at the graduate professional school level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in utilizing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software programs for recruitment purposes.
  • Skill in examining and evaluating operations and developing and/or re-engineering operating strategies, systems, and procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake extensive travel.
  • Ability to determine informational needs, to collect and analyze information, and to devise and develop statistical analyses and reports.
  • Analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills.
  • Skill in the use of computerized systems and databases.
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
