Summary

Coordinates admission of students to an educational program of the university. Reviews documentation of undergraduate, graduate, and/or transfer students to ensure completeness of applications. Monitors progress of applicants. Coordinates processing, mailings, and other related documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates admissions efforts between students, departments, admissions, and graduate studies.
  2. As appropriate to the position, reviews and processes student applications and/or documents; reviews and/or compiles and updates student credentials needed for admissions status; monitors progress of applicants.
  3. Provides administrative and secretarial support for the department/division such as answering telephones, directing visitors and students, resolving student and customer inquiries, and advising and registering students.
  4. Provides information to prospective students and/or the general public regarding application procedures, financial aid guidelines, and application status.
  5. Researches information as necessary to respond to inquiries or address specific applicant/student concerns.
  6. May serve as undergraduate and/or graduate advisor to students in department/division.
  7. May maintain computerized student database for statistical and/or report writing purposes; may perform data entry.
  8. May handle cash and cash-related payments; verifies accuracy of routine cash receipts.
  9. May coordinate and proof revisions of the undergraduate university catalog and graduate bulletin along with departmental class schedules; may coordinate bulk mailings.
  10. May supervise student employees, volunteers and/or interns; may lead lower-graded staff.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Receptionist skills.
  • Ability to lead and train assigned staff.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
