Summary

In partnership with the University Architect & University Planner, coordinates with academic leadership, facility managers, consulting planners, and designers in the development of facility planning materials related to the management, assessment and development of University properties. Identify, prioritize, and plan for short- and long-term space requirements. Leads Facilities Master Planning processes. Assists with production of the annual capital budget, inclusive of facilities, landscape, renewal and infrastructure and updates the 5-year capital budget plan annually. Manages production of planning documents and reports. Manages consulting planning professionals. Key member of Planning, Design & Construction leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Leads production of facility development plans in coordination with University leadership and administrators on space and facility issues.
  2. Coordinates collection and analysis of benchmarking, technology, academic and research trends, and space projections to establish quantitative based projections for facility and capital projections.
  3. Develops and prepares feasibility studies; identifies project goals and objectives, critical physical and environmental constraints, space utilization and facility conditions, and establishes and monitors project deliverables.
  4. Collaborates with University Architect and/or University Planner in campus master planning efforts.
  5. Collaborates with Facilities Management and Capital & Space Strategies to analyze the efficiency and utilization of existing space allocations and to strategize space needs in facility planning.
  6. Manages and supervises personnel to include hiring and performance management; provides guidance, work allocation, and training to personnel.
  7. Facilitates comprehensive planning support to all Planning, Design & Construction capital projects; including the development and/ or guidance of project scopes, programs, program adjustments and revisions in development through construction as it pertains to the facilities long term development goals and objectives.
  8. Consults with Project Managers on facility project costs and schedules, coordinates with cost consultants and advises on cost effective methods to achieve program objectives.
  9. Confers with peers and maintains relationships with professional organizations to promote information sharing and facilitate benchmarking of campus and space requirements.
  10. Leads special studies and participates in various internal and external committees and working groups concerned with the campus physical development plans. Manages the development of study reports and/or plans for evaluation with University Architect and/or University Planner for consistency with the Campus Development Plan.
  11. Assists in the facilitation the annual update of the 5-year capital budget plan.
  12. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
