Summary

Coordinates, analyzes, and assists with the development of an integrated planning model for each academic, auxiliary and support function consistent with the campus master plan. Facilitates project program development. Produces documents representative of planning scope.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops integrated plans in coordination with faculty, staff, and students on space and facility issues.
  2. Assists with collection and analysis of benchmarking, technology, academic and research trends, and space projections to establish quantitative based projections for facility and capital projections.
  3. Develops and prepares feasibility studies, supportive of project goals and objectives, critical physical and environmental constraints, space utilization and facility conditions.
  4. Collaborates with Facilities Management and Capital & Space Strategies to support the utilization of existing space allocation.
  5. Participates in campus master planning studies and facility siting activities with the University Architect and/or University Planner.
  6. Facilitates comprehensive planning support to all Planning, Design & Construction capital projects.
  7. Supports University Architect, University Planner, and University Landscape Architect in development of comprehensive physical campus environment. Under the direction of the University Panner.
  8. Confers with peers internally and at other institutions and national organizations to promote information sharing and facilitate benchmarking of campus and space requirements.
  9. Leads special studies and participates in various internal and external committees and working groups concerned with the campus physical development plans. Manages the development of study reports and/or plans for evaluation with University Architect and/or University Planner for consistency with the Campus Development Plan.
  10. Applies knowledge of project management to a wide variety of special and complex policy studies as assigned and maintains special data pertinent to planning issues.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of campus planning and development principles.
  • Knowledge of capital and operating budgets and budgeting practices.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of state and federal funding requirements.
  • Knowledge of technologies required for classrooms, laboratories and other University environments.
  • Developed oral, text, graphics, visuals, formal and informal communication skills.
  • Computer skills and familiarity with various software such as Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and FastTrack.
  • Strong interpersonal and community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community.
  • Ability to plan, develop, organize, document, and facilitate meetings, retreats, workshops, and public forums.
  • Ability to summarize data, draw conclusions and inferences, and prepare reports and/or presentations.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze campus-planning information and to draw conclusions.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate the work of committees and other types of task groups.
