The following statements are intended to describe, in broad terms, the general functions and responsibility levels characteristic of positions assigned to this classification. Leads large-scale organizational change efforts aimed at improving individual and organizational performance University-wide. Plans and leads organizational diagnoses and problem solving, and provides consultation with organizational groups seeking consensus. Manages large-scale instructional development projects, and designs and develops associated educational and training programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides day-to-day guidance and leadership to employee and organizational development consultants and training professionals.
  2. Guides the design and delivery of organizational development, talent management and learning and development processes and programs, including large system organizational development and University-wide change initiatives.
  3. Serves as subject matter expert to the University in management, leadership, and organizational development; writes and publishes articles and newsletters, and designs and delivers presentations to the University and to professional organizations on related topics.
  4. Provides consultation to University leadership in the execution of strategic planning, team building, process consultation, and leadership coaching.
  5. Serves as project leader for large-scale human resources initiatives.
  6. Conducts needs assessments to identify and evaluate individual and/or group training requirements for employees University-wide.
  7. Plans, designs, develops, and delivers individual and/or group training and instructional programs, using instructor-led, electronic/web-based, and/or multimedia training methods and formats.
  8. Participates in the sourcing, selection, and evaluation of contracted instructors and consultants, as appropriate.
  9. Evaluates effectiveness of training and development programs and utilizes relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods.
  10. Coordinates work flow and administrative activities necessary to deliver and document unit programs and activities.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate training plans, curricula, and methodology.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership to external and internal consituencies.
  • Knowledge of web-based training programs and familiarity with web tools.
  • Ability to provide consultation to professional staff and/or students in area of leadership development, organizational change, and group facilitation.
  • Ability to determine training needs, objectives and instructional media solutions.
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the financial, accounting, marketing and operational functions of an organization (business acumen).
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of adult learning practices.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate group processes and manage large scale projects.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation and team management skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
