Summary

Under limited supervision, coordinates, designs, develops and implements specialized training and development programs, focusing on the adoption of and/or utilizing highly technical and sophisticated platforms aimed at improving individual and/or organizational performance. Conducts needs assessments and collaborates with subject-matter experts, cross-functional project teams, and other University departments to ensure programs meet client needs and project objectives. Designs and develops training and instructional materials, consults on organization-wide initiatives, and recommends technical training resources based on technical advancements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops, coordinates, and provides training and instruction utilizing technical platforms; facilitates and encourages the use of technical platforms as a means of delivering academic/instructional content.
  2. Collaborates with University departments, subject-matter experts, and cross-functional project teams to identify training needs and develop technical and instructional solutions.
  3. Plans, designs, develops, delivers and consults on the design of sustainable training and instructional programs, using instructor-led, train-the trainer, electronic/web-based, and/or multimedia training methods and formats.
  4. Develops training materials to include training handbooks, job aids, models, multimedia visual aids, computer and web-based tutorials, and standard operating procedures.
  5. Conducts needs assessments to identify and evaluate training needs, develop training and instructional solutions, and assess training requirements for high impact technology training.
  6. Provides and/or assists with consulting in all aspects related to training and/or technical training for organization-wide initiatives and projects; participates in the design, development and implementation of training programs of a broad organizational scope.
  7. Researches and studies advancements in learning management systems (LMS), educational technologies, and instructional design methods; evaluates effectiveness of training and development programs, utilizing appropriate data collection instruments and procedures.
  8. Recommends and/or implements innovative solutions, modifications and enhancements to technology training programs; facilitates and encourages the adoption of technical platforms to enhance the delivery of academic and/or instructional content.
  9. Coordinates or performs administrative functions necessary to deliver and document training programs.
  10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which includes at least 1 year of experience conducting hands-on technical training.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Advanced analytical, business acumen and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to interpret educational needs and develop effective instructional design and media solutions.
  • Extensive working knowledge in designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating training plans, curricula, and methodology.
  • Skilled in developing digital media and online content for training and course delivery.
  • Proficient in productivity tools for PC's and Mac.
  • Skilled in analyzing target audience and presenting ideas in a clear, concise manner.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Project management and presentation skills and the ability to resolve complex problems and issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on rapport building, listening, and the ability to deliver effective training programs.
  • Ability to consult with stakeholders to offer important technological and organizational feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to train adult learners and novice computer users required.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a complex environment.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
