The following statements are intended to describe, in broad terms, the general functions and responsibility levels characteristic of positions assigned to this classification. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, administers policies, procedures, data collection, and reporting to ensure compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act. This position is responsible for program development in support of community outreach and crime prevention education and crime data analysis. Works collaboratively with various offices at the university to ensure the institution's compliance with the Clery Act and associated regulations. Provides university-wide compliance oversight, direction and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops and implements the institution's comprehensive program for compliance with the Clery Act and related laws, regulations, and programs.
  2. Gathers, analyzes, interprets, and communicates crime data. Ensures accuracy of institutional data and prepares, publishes, and distributes the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report.
  3. Collaborates with local police, university police, and other university departments and offices to create and maintain crime and fire incident reports as required under the Clery Act.
  4. Collaborates with university departments to ensure compliance with the emergency notification requirements of the Clery Act.
  5. Identifies and trains institutional "Campus Security Authorities" and key institutional stakeholders on Clery and Title IX compliance requirements.
  6. Develops and implements institutional policies and procedures to ensure that the conduct and review of animal research at UNM or by an agent of UNM is in compliance with federal regulations.
  7. Creates, implements, and coordinates university policies, procedures, and programs relating to compliance with the Clery Act.
  8. Collaborates with university departments to identify university owned and controlled property and determine the University's geography for Clery reporting.
  9. Stays up-to-date on pending and final changes to the Clery Act and other laws of regulations affecting Clery Act provisions.
  10. May supervise lower graded staff and/or student employees.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Communications, Criminal Justice or Emergency Management or related field; at least 7 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
