Summary

Under direct supervision, performs duties of intermediate complexity requiring some prior knowledge of systems or procedures within a designated functional area. Works as part of a specified student employment program for an assigned department of the University. Duties are of a nature and level of responsibility that would be consistent with a UNM staff position that has been evaluated at Grade 5.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Receives guidance, training, and mentoring from professional personnel in planning and carrying out activities and assignments.
  2. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED. Must have obtained high school diploma no greater than 24 months prior to date of hire; no previous experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
