Summary

Performs data entry, verification, and editing. Provides reports on data entered. Resolves problems and inconsistencies with data and performs limited data analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Inputs and retrieves alphabetical and numerical information in prescribed format, utilizing knowledge of various computer software packages.
  2. Balances batches to input department totals and reconciles errors.
  3. Verifies input data to ensure accuracy of completed work; scans and edits for errors during processing.
  4. Cross references data to ensure accuracy and completeness; recognizes problems in source documents and calls to the attention of supervisor or designated user liaison.
  5. Extracts information according to specified criteria and generates reports.
  6. May perform clerical duties as needed.
  7. May work on weekends and/or various shift assignments.
  8. Ensures strict confidentiality of client records.
  9. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to verify data input and correct errors.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Word processing and/or data entry skills.

Conditions of Employment

  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
