Summary
Manages the various program and administrative operations of either a key, high-profile NCAA Division 1 intercollegiate athletics program or a series of multiple smaller programs. Coordinates and facilitates student-athlete recruitment activities, and oversees student development and support programs and activities, ensuring compliance with NCAA and MWC requirements. Oversees all aspects of team travel and game management, and manages all team resources and facilities, including supervision of students and staff. Manages information systems and data management for the program. Handles various special projects and events as assigned by the Head Coach.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages all fiscal and administrative affairs for the program, to include budget development, operational and administrative planning, fiscal monitoring, and human resources management.
Manages and coordinates travel and game management activities for the team; oversees team transportation, meals, lodging, practice location, and scheduling, and provides on-site operational liaison.
Manages on-campus recruitment logistics, to include arranging travel itineraries, scheduling on-campus visits, coordinating on-campus activities, and arranging lodging accomodations for prospective student athletes.
Manages information systems and technology for the program, to include software and hardware acquisition and administration, database management, and web site development and maintenance.
Collaborates with representatives of other competing institutions to specify and finalize game contracts, once the overall terms and conditions have been negotiated by the Athletic Director and Head Coach.
Supervises student personnel and administrative support staff, to include recommendations for hiring, performance appraisals, and disciplinary action.
Manages and coordinates all materials purchasing and procurement activities for the program, to include acquisition, disposition, and maintenance of all related equipment and apparel.
Coordinates and facilitates all student-athlete advisement and support activities for the program; serves as liaision to University student services staff for all student-athlete academic and student affairs matters.
Coordinates student-athlete development activities and programs, mentors student-athletes in academic and life-skills, and serves as program liaison to the department's life-skills coordinator.
Manages all day-to-day compliance activities for the program; serves as the program liaison to the athletic compliance office, and coordinates the completion and maintenance of compliance records.
Coordinates all community service activities related to the program, and participates as appropriate in day-to-day public and media relations activities involving student athletes.
Organizes, implements, and coordinates various special projects, events, and/or programs, as designated by the Head Coach.
Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects with short deadlines.
Ability to lead and functionally supervise staff.
Skill in written, graphic, and oral communication.
Knowledge of college-level student affairs and student services principles and practices.
Knowledge of the Internet, and ability to develop website documents.
Knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures.
Knowledge and understanding of NCAA and MWC compliance standards and reporting requirements.
Conditions of Employment
Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required in this position.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
