Summary
Provides direct patient care associated with behavioral analysis in a variety of settings, including client homes. Designs, implements, and oversees behavioral analytic services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Educates and consults with families of clients, schools, community programs, and/or other populations. May provide education and/or mentorship to students or trainees.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts a wide array of functional behavior assessments, skills assessments, needs assessments, and experimental functional analyses for a range of challenging behavior.
Designs and implements treatment protocols and programs to decrease maladaptive behavior.
Develops meaningful, developmentally appropriate treatment plans and associated goals and objectives to support client success.
Creates individual skill acquisition protocols.
Employs a wide array of strategies to assess skill acquisition, maintenance, and generalization.
Provides training in applied behavior analysis theory and associated techniques to parents, professionals, paraprofessionals, and other community stakeholders.
Collaborates effectively with family members and professionals from other disciplines to promote consistent intervention and maximize outcomes.
Modifies interventions based on frequent, systematic evaluation of client quantitative data.
Prepares assessment and professional reports that outline findings and describe highly-individualized intervention recommendations and ongoing results.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Master's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise.
Ability to develop and update individualized treatment plans.
Ability to evaluate client progress and make individual modifications to interventions.
Knowledge of therapeutic theory and techniques specific to children with developmental disabilities, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder.
Knowledge and experience in delivering both naturalistic and structured discrete trial training/discrete trial teaching (DTT) interventions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Effective time management skills.
Problem solving skills.
Ability to travel throughout the state of New Mexico.
Conditions of Employment
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
Must maintain certification status.
A valid driver's license, or ability to obtain a valid driver's license within thirty days of hire, is required for this job.
Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Fingerprinting, and subsequent clearance, may be required for this position depending on assignment.
May be required to submit immunization records for review for required vaccines and TB testing.
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
Work may be performed in a typical interior/office environment or in community or home settings.
Light physical activity. Requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
