Summary

Under general supervision, coordinates the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of performance data relative to specified quality improvement programs within a patient care facility or a broadly-focused health care related service or clinical research program. Maintains documents and records according to protocol requirements and state and federal health care standards. May provide professional nursing services and patient care in variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Collects, analyzes, and oversees data entry on relevant quality performance indicators.
2. Monitors and evaluates appropriateness of facility quality control plans and practices.
3. Designs, schedules and conducts quality review audits as appropriate to the facility or service; performs or coordinates chart and/or other medical record reviews and records and/or abstracts specific relevant data as appropriate.
4. Generates and/or coordinates the development of various reports regarding performance against quality indicators, as appropriate to the individual position.
5. Participates in the planning, development, coordination, and presentation of specific training and educational programs as appropriate to the quality assurance needs of the facility or service.
6. Collaborates and consults with other associated facilities regarding current quality control issues and activities.
7. May provide direct, professional nursing care to a specified population of patients in an inpatient or an outpatient setting.
8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure. OR Current RN licensure from a state participating in the 'multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

• Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards.
• Records maintenance skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to write reports containing technical information.
• Word processing and/or data entry skills.
• Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
• Knowledge of quality control practices and procedures within a hospital, patient care, or registry environment.
• Ability to make evaluative judgments.
• Knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
• Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
• Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
• Knowledge of data collection techniques.

Conditions of Employment

• Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
• No or very limited physical effort required.
• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
