Summary
Under general supervision, manages the daily operations of a warehouse which may include, but are not limited to, shipping and receiving, purchasing, costing, budget control, inventory control, and preparation of bid requests.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
Provides products to customers in an efficient and timely manner; arranges for packaging, transportation, and/or delivery of goods.
Maintains space, equipment, and supplies; manages inventory, transfers, and product rotation.
Develops and implements improved methods of materials handling, stock control, and packaging to promote efficiency, services, and reduced costs.
Conducts periodic or special inventory audits and reconciles physical counts.
Prepares bid requests for a variety of services and/or supplies; monitors contracts on an ongoing basis for compliance.
Develops confidentiality recordkeeping procedures and manages appropriate department records in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and standards.
Develops operating goals and objectives for the unit; implements and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations, as appropriate to the unit.
Assists in the annual budget planning process and regularly monitors expenditures.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Knowledge of contract documents and specifications.
Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Records maintenance skills.
Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.
Ability to package products for shipping/delivery.
Knowledge of warehousing methodology.
Knowledge of inventory management practices.
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
Knowledge of procurement rules and regulations.
Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Organizing and coordinating skills.

Knowledge of costing and pricing methodology.

Distinguishing Characteristics
Position requires: a) Supervising personnel including recommendations for hiring, performance evaluation, work allocation, training, and problem resolution; b) Developing and implementing irecordkeeping procedures, and improved methods of materials handling, stock control and packaging; c) Preparing bid requests and monitoring contracts; d) Participating in development of department goals and objectives; and e) Assisting in the annual budget planning process.
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
