Summary
Under limited supervision, the Manager of Editorial, Design/Digital and Production (EDP) provides strong management, strategy and creative and technical expertise to the organization; sets short, medium, and long-term evolving goals for the unit's print and digital publishing program. Oversees the articulation and quantification of product requirements, the adoption of new technologies, and the definition of standard procedures for product editing, design and launching. Overseas and directs junior- and senior-level staff in the production of first-class publications across the unit?s academic and trade publishing program. Manages relationships with authors and other partners; manages projects and resources across departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages the conceptualization, development, maintenance and expansion of print and digital publishing projects, including digital-only publications, simultaneous print and digital publications, and print publications.
Manages the execution of special projects and other initiatives designed to achieve the overall mission, goals, and objectives of the organization.
Supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, operating procedures, and product roadmap; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement.
Participates in the development of annual operating budgets and provides fiscal direction to the unit.
Advises and collaborates with other staff to evaluate and manage resources for preparation, production and tracking of publications.
Reports on cost and anticipated trends for print and digital publications; provides regular reports to leadership and other related constituents regarding progress toward project goals and delieverables.
Works with other departments to develop procedures and systems for appropriate recordkeeping related to expenses and revenues for print and digital publishing.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Strong knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with print and digital publishing and development.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
Demonstrated proficiency with suite of Adobe and Microsoft Office products; strong knowledge of electronic publishing formats as well as XML and other languages and technologies related to e-books and electronic publishing.
Strong knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of print and digital publishing and development.
Knowledge of management principles and practices.
Demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and their resolution in an effective and timely manner.

Conditions of Employment
Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
