Summary
Under indirect supervision, directs the programming unit for the University's radio station, KUNM. Develops, implements, and promotes program schedules, ensuring compliance with regulations governing program activity. Directs station programming and production staff including the News Department, Music Department and independent producers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Directs planning and implementation of program schedules and the traffic system of on-air programming. Evaluates local, regional, national and international programming and makes recommendations to improve programming on KUNM.
Develops and implements total program and production efforts, including acquisition, schedule development, proposal writing, creation of production projects, and contract negotiations; directs the production process.
Implements community outreach projects and educational programs and activities.
Ensures compliance with university, local, state, and federal regulations related to programming activity.
Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
Participates in the development of annual operating budgets and provides fiscal direction to the unit.
Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Conditions of Employment
Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
No or very limited physical effort required.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
