Summary
Serves as institutional representative to the media for all athletic activities. Plans, organizes, and coordinates media relations activities; writes and distributes newsletters, brochures, and reports to television and radio stations, newspapers, and magazines; responds to various requests for team histories, photos, statistics, and related information.
Duties and Responsibilities
Designs, writes, and oversees the production of printed promotional materials including catalogs, brochures, flyers, and program and media guides.
Writes and edits promotional materials including press releases, newsletters, programs, and brochures; gathers and compiles statistical information.
Responds to requests for information from media personnel and the public; distributes promotional materials, including flyers, brochures, and press kits; disseminates information via the appropriate media.
Plans, coordinates, and manages special events including press conferences, press luncheons, and athletic banquets.
Manages and supervises personnel to including hiring and performance management; provides guidance and training to personnel.
Travels with university athletic teams; provides information to representatives of the opponent's sports information office about the team, including updating starting lineups.
Coordinates and produces financial, budget, and other special reports, proposals, and analyses for management, to include monthly financial statements and/or funds distribution reports.
Serves on committees which recommend, coordinate, and implement changes and/or improvements in fiscal controls, policies, procedures, and/or financial and human resource management systems.
Develops and maintains close contact with local media and those who cover Mountain West Athletic Conference sports; organizes press conferences, sets up individual interviews, responds to questions, issues press credentials, and provides results and statistics of the university's non-revenue sports events.
Manages the press box at all home football games, including overseeing the statistics crew, addressing problems of media and press box employees, and screening all public service announcements.
Organizes and supervises photo sessions for all sports to provide head and shoulder photos of athletes and posed action shots; mails film clips of each week's football and basketball games to media covering succeeding games.
Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Conditions of Employment
Employees in this job title are subject to the terms and conditions of an employment contract. Employment contracts are typically subject to review and renewal on an annual basis.
Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required in this position.
Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
