Summary

Contributes to the operational planning, establishment, and execution of ongoing new digital media content pertaining to social media for the unit. Produces strategic content for various social media sites and platforms for targeted audiences. Assists the unit in developing the content framework and the communication of this framework. Oversees and provides leadership to student workers contributing to content production.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Conceptualizes, designs, writes, edits, and films high-quality organic and paid social media and digital content to support the university's social media strategic goals. Suggests, evaluates, and evolves content creation workflow.
  2. Maintains social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other relevant social networking sites; maintains content related to new media for assigned websites.
  3. Monitors current social media and digital media trends to evaluate if current trends are consistent with established social media strategy; recommends adjustments as needed.
  4. Monitors any and all mention of the organization found online; tracks alerts and monitors social media sites around the clock via mobile devices.
  5. Identifies and engages in online discussions in a timely manner; crafts responses to commentors and community members.
  6. Participates in social media meetings to gather and provide new ideas from team members; oversees digital content framework while contributing to team goals.
  7. Participates in the maintenance of an evergreen digital content library.
  8. Assists in coordinating the collection, compilation, and analysis of online sentiment and engagement data.
  9. Identifies, creates, and captures shareable moments related to the community.
  10. Consults and contributes to the execution of social media special projects and campaigns; contributes to the unit content calendar.
  11. May instruct and oversee the activities of student employees performing the same type of work.
  12. Collaborates with other university units to identify unique experiences and feature Lobos digitally in an authentic way.
  13. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 4 years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Skill in the use of computers, preferably in an apple mac OS-based operating environment.
  • Strong creative and editorial writing skills.
  • Knowledge of AP style.
  • Strong digital design skillset in Adobe Creative Suite and in-app settings.
  • Experience in photography and digital editing of assets.
  • Strong storytelling skills and the ability to create timely and engaging digital content.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to track, interpret, and gather data for leadership use.
  • Ability to provide technical coordination and management of development and/or implementation projects in area of expertise.
  • Digital media content framework planning and implementation skills.
  • Experience with content management systems particularly social media management systems.
  • Skill in utilizing resources in a sustainable manner.
  • Knowledge of content management principles and best practices.
  • Student worker management acumen.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
