Summary
Under general supervision, manages a primary multimedia support/creative services unit, which provides multimedia consulting, design, and production services for the University, outreach communities, and/or government programs and agencies. Manages specified multimedia projects and on-going creative program activities. Develops and implements operating and administrative policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Directs, plans, and oversees a wide range of department-specific multimedia projects and programs, which may include developing web content, broadcast media, print, videography, and/or photography.
Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
Coordinates and/or collaborates with University faculty, committees, departments, programs, and colleges to assess needs and identify available resources.
Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness, prepares program proposals and pricing structures, and produces periodic evaluation reports to management.
Develops or assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operation of the unit.
Initiates contacts, and negotiates, develops, and manages a range of University and/or external multimedia projects; which may include direct testing and development of new and/or enhanced software and technology applications.
May serve and/or chair University committees to advise on, assist in awareness of, and provide access to computer and/or media related resources.
Maintains currency with developments and changes in new media technologies, through research, usage of technology, and attending and presenting at conferences.
May require external representation, liaison, and coordination with a range of outside agencies and organizations on a regional and/or national basis.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge of local and state multimedia agencies and resources.
Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Ability to plan, establish, manage, and modify multimedia programs.
Knowledge of new media resources.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Ability to analyze new media technology and to identify and/or develop new applications.
Employee development and performance management skills.
Ability to design, test, and implement non-standard computer software to meet specific needs.
Knowledge of faculty and/or staff hiring procedures.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
No or very limited physical effort required.
Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
