Summary

Leads, plans, edits, and produces all videography used by the University's Athletics Department to support the success of the University's major sport NCAA Division 1 intercollegiate teams. Supervises videographic staff and students and provides technical expertise during production.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Leads plans, oversees, and coordinates the filming of team practices, as well as home and away games.
  2. Leads and guides the work of lower level staff, and supervises student employees as appropriate; may participate in hiring decisions and performance appraisal.
  3. Edits film developed in-house, as well as film developed by opponent programs for the purpose of scouting and self-scouting; edits season film for the purposes of play study.
  4. Develops, maintains and monitors film exchange agreements with opponent programs for the purposes of mutual scouting.
  5. Works with professional team scouts to assist in the evaluation of the University's student athletes.
  6. Coordinates the development and preparation of marketing and promotional plans and/or materials, as appropriate to the program.
  7. Researches and assesses new videographic methods and technology, and makes recommendations for new equipment and process enhancements, as appropriate.
  8. Develops and maintains inventories of video equipment, tapes, and peripheral equipment and supplies.
  9. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of advanced videographic methods, techniques, processes, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of video production and editing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise, train and motivate staff and student employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work.
  • Knowledge of NCAA team sport operations rules and regulations.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and implement marketing strategies and programs.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

Conditions of Employment

  • Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required in this position.
  • Employees in this job title are subject to the terms and conditions of an employment contract. Employment contracts are typically subject to review and renewal on an annual basis.
  • May work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
  • Willingness and availability to travel extensively and to work extended hours as necessary.
  • Work is performed in different work environments including indoor and outdoor events and/or remote locations.
