Summary
Under direct supervision, provides a variety of technical support services for in-studio and remote field radio productions, special projects, and station outreach activities. Sets up and operates radio and sound equipment for live and taped radio programs, and assists with editing of material. Operates multi-channel recording and mix-down equipment, including digital telephone interconnection equpment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Sets up and operates various items of radio production equipment, to include microphones, multi-channel mixers, digital recorders, telephone circuits and interfaces, audio processors, and recorders, for both location and studio production.
Operates and maintains proper levels and calibration of autio recorders, switchers, and other recording studio production equipment.
Prepares studio and/or live-on-location sites with requested equipment and setup for live and/or taped sessions in a variety of formats.
Completes troubleshooting and preventative maintenance reports on audio production equipment; assists in the upkeep of studio properties.
Produces and edits short segments and spots, as required.
Maintains records and schedules of facility usage, as appropriate.
May lead and/or guide the work of others including interns, volunteers, and student employees.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Ability to set up and operate digital recorders, sound processing equipment, multi-track audio consoles, and ancillary radio production equipment.
Records maintenance skills.
Knowledge of the operation of studio microphones and knowledge of sound procedures and requirements.
Ability to test, calibrate, and troubleshoot audio and related radio production equipment.
Ability to arrange and configure studio facilities and equipment.
Knowledge of audio archiving and library procedures.
Audio production and editing skills.
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate must possess a valid driver's license with proof of insurance and the ability to provide their own reliable transportation.
Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of equipment that can weigh up to 50 pounds.
Work is performed in different work environments including indoor and outdoor events and/or remote locations.
The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
