Summary
Single incumbent position provides strategic direction and management of the day-to-day integrated business operations and associated amenities of the University's golf courses, to include business and retail operations, facility and equipment maintenance, and personnel management. Serves as the Tournament Director for NCAA and/or professional championship tournaments and other special golfing events. Provides specialized advice, facilitation, and support in the community and collaborates with colleges, NCAA personnel, and outside community constituents. Deputizes for the Director of Golf Courses as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages the daily operations of UNM golf courses and ensures compliance with University, local, state, and federal policies and regulations.
Oversees the coordination and organization of golf tournaments, outings, golf leagues, clinics, and other special events UNM Golf Courses; negotiates, manages, and executes contractual arrangements and proposals related to the same.
Coordinates the repair and maintenance of golf course facilities and landscapes, to include safety inspections and state fire marshal reporting.
Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations on personnel actions.
Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short- and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
Plans, develops, and implements methods and facilities for enhancing revenue sources and/or generating new revenue sources for the organization.
Participates in the development and management of annual budgets for the organization and performs periodic cost and productivity analysis.
Performs data collection and analysis related to golf course operations, to include sales on Pro Shop merchandise, golf rounds, green fees, customer relations, tournaments, and other operations as appropriate.
Monitors and maintains integrity of cash-handling and fiscal procedures. Manages the acquisition, disposition, and control of asset inventory according to established policies and procedures.
Establishes and maintains appropriate customer services procedures and standards; interfaces with customers and resolves escalated problems and conflicts as necessary.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Class "A" member of the Professional Golfers Association of America and/or Ladies Professional Golf Association.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Conditions of Employment
Must maintain certification status.
Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Work may, on occasion, involve exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
Moderate physical activity. Requires occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 35 pounds.
The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
