Summary

Oversees the development, program management and implementation of recruitment based scholarship initiatives and outreach services for high-achieving student recruitment. Develops and administers projects and programs to accomplish the University's goals related to high-achieving student enrollment and strategic scholarship utilization . Manages fiscal responsibilities of initial scholarship awarding component within the unit and leads recruiters as to principles of good practice, policies and regulations related to scholarship awarding. Visits schools and makes presentations to groups and individuals. Manages and establishes recruitment and communication efforts. Serves as primary point of contact for the assigned territory and internal coordination of university participation in outreach activities and scholarship awarding.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Oversees the daily operation of the scholarship component with regard to initial awarding of scholarships within the unit.
  2. Ensures compliance with university, state, and federal laws, policies, regulations and principles of good practice with regard to initial awarding of scholarships.
  3. Oversees the initial distribution of specific scholarship awards and fiscal and annual operating budget accountability.
  4. Monitors scholarship allocations and adjusts awarding practices to meet University enrollment and fiscal goals.
  5. Directs the initial administration of the various merit scholarships awarded to students attending the University; keeps abreast of developing scholarship opportunities and funding agencies.
  6. Provides information to parents and potential students on scholarship guidelines, regulations, and awards.
  7. Manages multi-million dollar scholarship accounts and supports University-wide enrollment initiatives.
  8. Develops and disseminates frequent reports to university leadership regarding available funds and allocations of scholarships and progress and status of high-achieving recruitment efforts.
  9. Manages recruitment of high achieving students and national scholar cohorts to achieve University goals; including strategic communication, marketing, and other recruitment related efforts.
  10. Represents the organization's scholarship and high-achieving student opportunities at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new scholarship programs and/or policy updates.
  11. Travels to schools, organizes and participates in office and University student recruitment events, manages assigned student recruitment territory.
  12. Develops and designs marketing strategies and publications used for recruitment and special programs; coordinates direct mail programs, email and other communication efforts to meet predetermined marketing strategies; oversees telecounseling and campaigns targeting high-achieving students.
  13. May provide supervision, guidance and training to recruitment staff, including internal procedures, customer service and problem resolution.
  14. Designs and implements systems to collect, maintain, and analyze scholarship and high-achieving student recruitment data; generates progress reports, final reports, and other information related to project(s) or program(s).
  15. Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short- and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
  16. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Conditions of Employment

  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid New Mexico Driver's License within 30 days of date of hire is a requirement of this job.
  • Ability to travel by vehicle or air, locally, statewide and/or out of state.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
