Summary

Under general supervision, oversees the planning, coordination, and delivery of subject-specific peer academic support services. Oversees the day-to-day administration of assigned academic support programs, including student employee recruitment, training, supervision, and scheduling; operational budget oversight; and ongoing program assessment. Collaborates with faculty, staff, and other campus partners to ensure academic support services are accessible, effective, and aligned with institutional student success goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Oversees daily operations of assigned peer academic support programs. Develops and maintains tutoring schedules, coordinates space utilization, and ensures appropriate subject-area coverage based on student demand. Ensures operational continuity and adherence to established program guidelines and procedures.
  2. Collects, analyzes, and interprets program usage data and operational metrics to monitor service delivery, assess effectiveness, and identify opportunities for improvement. Prepares reports and summaries to support program management, planning, and ongoing assessment efforts.
  3. Supervises student employees, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for student personnel actions; motivates students to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  4. Designs, implements, and maintains tutor and peer educator training curricula aligned with recognized standards and program objectives. Establishes training frameworks, facilitates onboarding and ongoing development activities, and ensures consistency and quality across instructional delivery.
  5. Evaluates training effectiveness through assessment tools, feedback, and performance data; identifies gaps and trends; and implements improvements to curriculum, materials, and delivery methods to support continuous program enhancement.
  6. Manages assigned operational budgets, including student payroll and program-related expenditures. Tracks expenses, ensures appropriate use of resources, and provides budget recommendations to leadership based on program needs and utilization trends.
  7. Collects, analyzes, and reports program data to support program evaluation and continuous improvement. Uses assessment results to inform operational decisions and service enhancements.
  8. Collaborates with faculty, academic departments, and campus partners to align academic support services with curricular needs and institutional initiatives. Participates in outreach efforts to promote awareness and appropriate access to academic support services.
  9. Represents the unit on committees, working groups, and cross-functional teams related to student learning needs and support.
  10. Maintains awareness of emerging trends, research, and best practices in pedagogy, learning sciences, and trending student needs. Disseminates relevant updates through staff guidance and support
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Knowledge of tutorial principles and practices.
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation.
  • Ability to assess training needs and design and develop responsive curriculum.
  • Ability to analyze budgetary expenditures for compliance with approved budget.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret quantitative data and prepare reports.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
