Summary

Within the Division of Student Affairs, under limited supervision coordinates and oversees student conduct violations and other related cases. Develops educational initiatives to promote responsible behavior and collaborates with university offices on safety and conduct trends across campus. Ensures compliance with policies, manages confidential records, and supervises personnel for optimal performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates, supports, and provides leadership to the Student Rights and Responsibilities unit, including the review, investigation, and adjudication of academic, nonacademic, and student organization violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
  2. Manages student conduct disciplinary actions, civil rights and Title IX cases, in collaboration with applicable University offices.
  3. Coordinates the review, evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of improvements in policies, procedures, education opportunities, and campus safety issues.
  4. Develops, implements, and assess responsive conduct outcomes and student learning goals that emphasize education, learning-centered approaches, and responsible behavior.
  5. Facilitates restorative practices, including educational conversations, conflict-coaching sessions, and dialogue meetings, in support of the department's philosophy, mission, and programs.
  6. Develops, coordinates, and evaluates proactive educational initiatives, including academic integrity, civility, conflict resolution, and student success pathways.
  7. Collaborates with faculty, staff, and applicable offices to address cases, crises, and campus safety and provides consultative support on university policies and student conduct trends.
  8. Manages the development of educational materials, including marketing collateral and website content, and seeks external funding to support the office's initiatives.
  9. Analyzes program outcomes and student behavior trends to provide evidence-based approaches that support student success, development, and retention.
  10. Oversees the request, collection and retention of confidential records, manages database audits and records purge processes. Develops reports on departmental performance and learning achievements.
  11. Develop policies aligned with the Division of Student Affairs, coordinates teams to address student issues, and represent the university in disciplinary matters, including court proceedings and professional associations.
  12. May oversee the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  13. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  14. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
