Summary
Handles day-to-day student admissions, registration, and/or records registration and administration for the Branch, as assigned. Provides advice, guidance and assistance to departments, staff, and to prospective and current students regarding admission/transfer, financial aid, or records and registration policies and procedures. Participates in outreach and communications programs, and resolves routine process problems as they arise to ensure client satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews, verifies, and processes student applications and related documentation; reviews, compiles, and updates information on student credentials required for the University.
Provides advice and guidance regarding admissions, financial aid eligibility and requirements, and the records and registration process to students and their families.
Establishes and manages electronic and manual student records, files, and other related documents; ensures accurate and complete records documentation throughout the admission, financial aid, and registration process.
Researches and analyzes information as necessary and responds to applicant and/or student concerns regarding admissions, financial aid, records, and registration matters.
Assists clients in interpretation of various University documents, to include information regarding student enrollment.
Serves as liaison with various University departments, including UNM branches in order to accurately refer clients.
Disseminates pertinent student information, as appropriate, in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and other applicable laws, regulations, and University policies.
Writes, edits, and participates in the development of written informational and other materials related to student enrollment.
Actively participates in professional workshops, seminars, and other related events on a local, state, or regional basis; participates in the development and delivery of presentations, as assigned.
May lead or guide the work of student employees, and provide training as required.
May perform one or more collateral assignments of similar or lower level of responsibility for other operating units of the Branch, in accordance with institutional need and individual experience and interest, up to 20% of nominal working hours.
Minimum Job Requirements
Successful completion of college-level credit hours equivalent to an associate's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to university student admissions, registration, and records.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of one or more areas of student enrollment management in a postsecondary institution.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
