Summary
Within the Provost's Office of Advising Strategies, provides professional planning, coordination, and development for institutional academic advisement programs and testing initiatives in support of the University's accreditation, enrollment, retention and graduation goals and objectives. Serves as the primary point-of-contact for constituents across the University regarding day-to-day matters related to advisement and/or testing. Supports the development, implementation and evaluation of institutional-level practices, programs, and resources that ensure quality of services provided to students.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plans, develops, coordinates and implements academic advisement activities across the institution; provides technical and/or professional guidance, consultation, and support to departments regarding institutional advisement standards, technologies, programs, testing and/or resources.
Serves as a primary point-of-contact to academic advisement personnel across the institution concerning technical resources and issues, advisement standards and administration, and/or testing, training, mentorship and skill development.
Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of academic advisement and testing services provided to students across the institution and ensures compliance with institutional needs, objectives and standards.
Monitors, updates and/or provides trainings regarding institutional technologies related to academic advisement or testing; assists users in navigating technologies, resolving issues, and implementing upgrades, as appropriate.
Develops, plans, leads, and/or participates in educational, training, and outreach activities, to include program development and presentation of lectures and/or workshops.
Plans, develops, and implements various special projects as assigned; plans, coordinates, promotes and facilitates special events, programs, and/or activities.
Provides relevant, timely and accurate institutional information to university administrators and the university at large, the external community and external agencies; provides institution-wide support for obtaining data and information and performing analyses in response to specific needs.
Participates in the preparation of institutional accreditation as a representative of the Office of Advising Strategies.
Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Advanced knowledge and understanding of student academic advisement, development, and retention issues, trends, and programs.
Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of student records management principles, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of computerized and manual standardized testing protocol, guidelines, procedures, and standards.
Ability to use independent judgment, analyze and solve problems, and manage and impart confidential information.
Ability to analyze processes and make recommendations for improvements.
Knowledge of academic standards governing student probation, suspension, and/or expulsion.
Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to synthesize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and prepare and present reports effectively.
Knowledge of web-based advising tools.
Ability to develop and deliver effective training materials to faculty and staff within area of professional specialty.
Ability to evaluate, design, and implement curriculum, testing, and/or teaching methodologies.
Knowledge of educational development test administration and interpretation.
Database management skills.
Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
Conditions of Employment
Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
