Summary

Under the Office of the Provost and in support of the University's enrollment, retention, and graduation goals, develops and executes a strategic approach to enhancing UNM's transfer student population and ensuring transfer student success through the cultivation of internal and external partnerships. Serves as the primary point of contact for constituents across all New Mexico higher education institutions related to transfer and articulation pathways. Collaborates with constituents to align curricula and develop new degree programs or pathways.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Creates academic partnerships and coordinates outreach efforts with New Mexico higher education institutions in order to drive greater overall transfer and articulation student enrollment and success.
  2. Facilitates meetings with internal and external academic constituents to review learning objectives and align curriculum to meet transferability criteria from feeder institutions to assist in the development of new degree programs and/or articulation pathways.
  3. Provides training and development to ensure stakeholder departments, such as Enrollment Management, Office of the Registrar and Academic Advisement, are aware of and understand current transfer and articulation pathway agreements.
  4. Develops and maintains a communication plan and presentations for the student population to educate, advise, and increase awareness on transfer pathways and how community college courses transfer to UNM.
  5. Assists in establishing and implementing short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  6. Tracks all articulation and transfer partnership agreements and ensure accuracy and currency.
  7. Partners with Office Institutional Analytics regarding student transfers to develop statistical information for trend analysis.
  8. Collaborates with the Office of the Registrar staff regarding statewide policies and the maintenance of the transfer evaluation system.
  9. Supports Academic Affairs and Office of the Registrar in ensuring consistency in common course numbering and in general education program requirements and in sharing Common Course Numbering and general education information with the advising community.
  10. May supervise and/or lead lower graded staff and/or student employees.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of admissions standards.

  • Ability to develop and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of computerized systems, database software, and web-based advising tools.
  • Ability to analyze processes and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Ability to travel on occasion outside the metropolitan area.

Conditions of Employment

  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
