Summary

Under the direction of the University Planner, assists in the coordination, development, and analysis of integrated planning for UNM's academic, auxiliary, and support entities consistent with the Integrated Campus Plan. Facilitates project development. Produces documents representative of planning scope.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides integrated planning support to the University Planner, Senior Planner and Planner.
  2. Assists in campus planning studies, facility projects, asset management programs, and other land planning activities.
  3. Coordinates the production of planning documents, outreach and engagement efforts, surveys, reports, and portfolios.
  4. Collaborates with Planning, Design & Construction, Facilities Management, Capital & Space Strategies, and other Campus Facilities & Environment entities to support the built environment and utilization of resources, space use, and allocation.
  5. Assists in preparing feasibility studies; identifying project goals, objectives, and critical physical and environmental constraints; facility condition assessments; space utilization and allocation and assessments; and completion of project deliverables.
  6. Assists with comprehensive planning support on all Campus Capital & Space Planning projects, including preparing quantitative-based projections .
  7. Provides project management support on a wide variety of special projects and maintain data pertinent to identified planning issues.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of campus planning and development principles.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of technologies required for classrooms, laboratories and other University environments.
  • Developed oral, text, graphics, visuals, formal and informal communication skills.
  • Computer skills and familiarity with various software such as Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and FastTrack.
  • Strong interpersonal and community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies within a diverse community.
  • Ability to plan, develop, organize, document, and facilitate meetings, retreats, workshops, and public forums.
  • Ability to summarize data, draw conclusions and inferences, and prepare reports and/or presentations.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze campus-planning information and to draw conclusions.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate the work of committees and other types of task groups.
