Summary

Under general supervision, provides and/or oversees the coordination of division-level communications and presentations, as they relate to projects and initiatives for the University's Division of Human Resources. Develops, writes, edits, and designs promotional materials in accordance with UNM brand identity standards. Participates in the establishment and support of key projects and initiatives for the Division, aligning with overall organizational objectives. Develops, manages, and maintains multiple enterprise-wide communication systems/mechanisms to ensure streamlined and efficient communications across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Oversees, coordinates, and implements the strategic communications plans for various University-wide programs, special projects, and initiatives for the Division; creates and implements communication strategies for Human Resources (HR) strategic projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the University's strategic plan.
  2. Provides assistance in the development and implementation of high-profile communications programs for the Division with regard to key initiatives and strategic projects.
  3. Prepares and disseminates communications on HR policies, programs, guidelines, and other relevant information to the University community and external audiences.
  4. Manages and maintains multiple Listserv accounts to ensure streamlined and efficient communications across the enterprise; moderates content and troubleshoots issues. Coordinates and facilitates communication efforts among internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Composes, designs, writes, edits and/or reviews HR divisional communications intended for internal and/or external publication, to include presentations, articles, newsletters, speeches, marketing materials, web content, or other communication related content.
  6. Drafts, reviews, and submits analytics reports related to strategic communications plans and campaigns.
  7. Gathers facts, researches issues, analyzes potential solutions, compares alternatives in terms of cost, time, and availability of resources, and recommends a course of action.
  8. Participates in the development, coordination, and implementation of changes and/or improvements to management systems and procedures for the department.
  9. Represents the Division at communication, marketing, and social media committee meetings; ensures compliance with the established UNM brand identity standards.
  10. May supervise the work of others.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of effective mass communication principles, processes, media, and techniques.
  • Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively summarize and present information.
  • Project planning and implementation skills.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and create communications that are responsive to the needs of the organization.
  • Excellent written, oral, and electronic communication skills.
  • Skill in the utilization of specified computerized graphic design programs.
  • Ability to establish and implement cohesive communication, marketing, and public relations strategies and plans on an institutional basis.
  • Technical writing skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
