Summary

Leads the integrated clinical and financial reporting systems. Oversees financial and clinical data collection, analysis, and reporting. Combines financial, business intelligence, and clinical information intelligence to enable optimal execution of short- and long-term strategic business decisions. Reports directly to the Senior Executive Officer for Finance & Administration HSC.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides financial and business operational reporting expertise. Oversees tracking and reporting of financial performance and operational goals.
  2. Proposes, develops, and implements strategies and tactics to enable the UNM Health Sciences Center (HSC) and its units to embrace the industry shift away from fee-for-service payment model and towards reimbursement based on quality, value, cost-containment, and risk-based reimbursement.
  3. Maintains continuous lines of communication with leadership and other stakeholders on all critical issues and projects.
  4. Ensures alignment across stakeholders to support successful implementation of a variety of projects, initiatives, and other strategic efforts.
  5. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of new/updated policies, operating processes, and/or projects from initiation through completion.
  6. Supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, dismissing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
  7. Provides leadership to and collaborates with finance and operations managers to ensure financial and operational information is shared with and translated into actionable deliverables for providers and front-line staff.
  8. Oversees and provides data and analytical support throughout the HSC and its component units. Provides high-level financial and operational modeling for new and/or expanding programs.
  9. Develops rolling forecast using productivity models as basis for activity. Develops cost of production and funds flow modeling.
  10. Provides analytical support to HSC internal management leaders, including development of internal management reporting capabilities.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; at least 10 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
