Summary

Under the direction of the Health Sciences Executive Physician in Chief and in collaboration with the Health Sciences Executive Leadership Team and Strategic Development Office, provides leadership in the planning, development, evaluation, and implementation of external clinical partnerships, business opportunities, and strategic initiatives in support of Health Sciences strategic priorities. Provides clinical and administrative oversight for assigned projects and serves as a liaison with internal and external providers, administrators, organizations, and strategic partners. Oversees project development and implementation, including operational, financial, regulatory, technology, and resource considerations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides leadership in the evaluation and assessment of clinical partnerships, business opportunities, and strategic initiatives that support Health Sciences strategic priorities.
  2. Develops strategic plans, implementation strategies, and work plans for assigned Health Sciences projects and initiatives.
  3. Leads the implementation and ongoing operations of assigned clinical network development projects and strategic initiatives.
  4. Provides clinical and administrative oversight for assigned projects, programs, and initiatives.
  5. Serves as a clinical and administrative liaison with internal and external providers, administrators, healthcare organizations, and other stakeholders throughout all phases of assigned projects.
  6. Coordinates assigned projects and facilitates collaboration among Health Sciences departments, external organizations, providers, and strategic partners.
  7. Provides oversight of regulatory compliance, risk management, utilization review, and marketing activities associated with assigned projects and programs.
  8. Conducts financial analysis, modeling, budgeting, projections, and ongoing financial monitoring of assigned programs and initiatives.
  9. Identifies and evaluates equipment, technology, and information technology requirements associated with project development and implementation.
  10. Develops and maintains effective relationships with external customers, healthcare organizations, providers, and strategic partners to support Health Sciences clinical network development.
  11. Monitors project and program performance and provides recommendations to Health Sciences leadership regarding operational, financial, and strategic opportunities.
  12. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 10 years of experience directly related to network development, strategic planning, and/or outreach within an academic health sciences or healthcare environment.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of clinical network development, strategic planning, and Health Sciences operations.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and business modeling.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and standards applicable to healthcare operations.
  • Knowledge of equipment, technology, and information technology requirements associated with clinical program development.
  • Strong strategic planning, project management, and leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to provide guidance and leadership to professional personnel in areas of expertise.
  • Ability to evaluate clinical partnerships and business opportunities and develop recommendations for Health Sciences leadership.
  • Ability to develop project plans, budgets, financial projections, and operational strategies.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data, prepare reports, and effectively communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations, educational programs, and/or workshops.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and strategic partners.

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License is a requirement for this job.
  • Ability to travel by vehicle or air, locally, statewide and/or out of state.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Must be able to travel locally between facilities and within state.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
