Summary

Manages and leads multiple projects and initiatives of broad institutional significance for a large, complex organization, such as a school/college/division or equivalent. Evaluates projects for conformance to established goals and objectives. Responsible for overall success of assigned projects through internal and external resource identification, coordination, and mobilization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manages and leads large-scale, complex, and/or multifaceted projects and initiatives of broad significance to the organization.
  2. Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
  3. Administers, oversees, and coordinates the activities of a range of larger, high-impact operational and support projects, as appropriate to the objectives of the organization.
  4. Compiles, analyzes, interprets, and integrates information and prepares and presents complex reports, statements, and other materials.
  5. Gathers facts, researches issues, analyzes potential solutions, compares alternatives in terms of cost, time, and availability of resources, and recommends a course of action.
  6. Develops and implements project plans; evaluates project status and resource utilization and implements changes to improve team effectiveness.
  7. Develops and tracks project budgets.
  8. Develops, coordinates, and implements changes and/or improvements to management systems and procedures for the department as assigned.
  9. Reviews and ensures accurate completion and timely submission of governmental, University, and other reports as required, with respect to assigned areas of responsibilities.
  10. Represents the university to various institutional divisions as well as externally to the media, governmental agencies, prospective funding agencies and individuals, prospective vendors, and/or a range of constituencies within the community at large.
  11. Supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, dismissing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
  12. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Ability to establish, develop, and implement processes and procedures that align University processes with industry standards and best practices.
  • Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively summarize and present information.
  • Program planning and implementation skills.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
  • Excellent written, oral, and electronic communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, communicate effectively, organize, prioritize and schedule work assignments, contributing to a collaborative work environment.
  • Ability to work independently, accept accountability and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
