Summary

This is a single incumbent position that supports Institutional Support Servies Leadership (ISS) in advancing initiatives and projects that align with UNM's strategic and institutional priorities. The role coordinates cross-departmental collaboration, assists with capital investment planning, and supports construction approvals and state capital funding processes with governing bodies. Responsibilities include monitoring progress, preparing reports and executive communications, and coordinating milestone events to advance institutional priorities while contributing to advocacy, compliance, and process improvement efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Participates with ISS leadership in the development, implementation, and oversight of high-priority initiatives and projects to ensure alignment with institutional goals, strategic priorities, and objectives.
  2. Coordinates and facilitates collaboration across departments and university partners to ensure effective communication, timely progress, and resolution of operational issues impacting assigned initiatives.
  3. Monitors and tracks the progress of initiatives and projects, identifies risks or barriers, collects and analyzes data, and prepares timely updates, briefings and reports to support informed decision-making by ISS leadership.
  4. Develops and maintains partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including Government Relations, campus leadership, and state entities to support the advocacy for capital funding, approval processes, and other institutional priorities at the state and community level.
  5. Contributes to the review and refinement of policies, procedures, and reporting frameworks related to ISS initiatives to ensure compliance, operational efficiency, and alignment with funding requirements. Assists in the development of communications and materials to convey institutional needs and impact to key stakeholders.
  6. Oversees and coordinates funding-related submissions and approval processes through the UNM Board of Regents, New Mexico Higher Education Department, the State Board of Finance, and other governing bodies, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, timely execution, and compliance with state funding requirements.
  7. Leads the planning, coordination, and execution of institutional events tied to major initiatives and project milestones, such as groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, and strategic announcements, ensuring alignment with UNM's mission, objectives, and branding standards.
  8. Assists in organizing capital investments and other ISS priorities to ensure alignment with institutional plans, long-range strategies, sustainability goals, and budget forecasting requirements.
  9. Prepares executive-level communications, reports, and presentations to support ISS leadership in representing ISS priorities to internal and external stakeholders.
  10. Recommends process improvements and identifies opportunities for innovation to advance ISS initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with institutional priorities.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Knowledge and a strong understanding of state funding cycles, policies, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance and readiness for future opportunities.
  • Ability to balance high-level business priorities while driving effective day-to-day strategic plans.
  • Ability to influence business decisions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of institutional goals, objectives, structure and operations.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures within specialty area and the regulatory environment within which they operate.
  • Ability to gather data, investigate and analyze information while being able to draw conclusions and issue recommendations.
  • Ability to create, compose and edit correspondence, written materials and/or complex reports.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
