Summary

Collects, analyzes, and manages compliance-related data across multiple institutional systems to ensure accuracy, integrity, and readiness for reporting. Oversees databases and dashboards related to risk reporting and mitigation, regulatory compliance, and institutional planning. Provides interpretation of compliance requirements, delivers training on compliance data standards, and collaborates with internal and external constituencies to ensure accurate collection methods, reporting tools, and workflows.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Collects, organizes, and maintains compliance-related data from multiple systems, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to institutional and regulatory requirements.
  2. Conducts data analysis and develops visualizations, dashboards, and narrative reports to identify compliance trends, monitor risk indicators, and inform decision-making by leadership.
  3. Responds to internal and external requests for compliance data and metrics. Prepares summaries and statistical information for all reporting needs.
  4. Maintains and ensures the integrity of information systems and databases that support the collection, tracking, and reporting of compliance data.
  5. Serves as a technical liaison with university departments, committees, vendors, and other key stakeholders to enhance data collection methods, reporting tools, and workflow processes to ensure alignment with compliance requirements.
  6. Applies data privacy and protection principles in accordance with UNM policy, FERPA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations to safeguard sensitive information.
  7. Develops and delivers training and technical guidance on compliance data standards, reporting tools, and system use to promote consistency and proficiency across the institution.
  8. Supports the preparation and submission of compliance reports to federal and state agencies, University leadership, and other stakeholders.
  9. Participates in cross-functional projects and initiatives that strengthen institutional compliance efforts and promote process improvements.
  10. May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher degree in a directly related field; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to maintain data integrity and accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret data models and to develop database structures including knowledge of database construction, management, and retrieval methods.
  • Ability to develop and manipulate large, complex data sets and to design and implement systems necessary to collect, maintain and analyze data.
  • Ability to coordinate implementation, test and troubleshoot database changes and modifications.
  • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
  • Ability to perform training needs analyses and to design and develop education/training programs, workshops, and associated materials.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies and practices specific to the applicable compliance specialty.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
