Summary

Assists in the planning, development, coordination and management of event operations at sports facilities to include the Pit, football stadium, baseball, softball, tennis and track and field venues. Schedules facilities, oversees supervision and work assignments of staff; and oversees maintenance, safety and security.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Prepares sports venue for game and special event operations including the supervision of parking personnel, ushers, security, etc.
  2. Maintains schedules for sports venues and responds to requests for use of venues.
  3. Oversees the work of ground and support personnel in the completion of event set-up and breakdown.
  4. Maintains event paperwork, prepares invoices and special reports.
  5. Attends operational meetings and event planning sessions.
  6. Assists in preparation of annual budget; prepares post event financial settlements.
  7. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of Intercollegiate Athletic Division I game operations.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge of special events, concerts, and various state high school tournaments.
  • Ability to examine and develop policies, procedures and strategic initiatives which will enhance facility/event operations.
  • Ability to schedule events and/or facilities usage.
  • Budget planning, fiscal control, and accounting skills.
  • Ability to complete moderately complex administrative paperwork.
  • Ability to lead and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.

Conditions of Employment

  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required in this position.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 35 pounds.
