Summary

Under direct supervision, delivers and sets up audio-visual equipment to classrooms, auditoriums, and a variety of other locations. May instruct users in basic equipment operation. Maintains appropriate records and inventory. May duplicate tapes or instructional films and perform minor equipment repairs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Receives requests for audio-visual resources; delivers and picks up audio-visual equipment and films to/from lecture halls, labs, classrooms, and other campus locations as requested.
  2. Inspects and performs basic repairs and preventive maintenance to audio-video equipment; seeks guidance on higher-level repairs.
  3. Troubleshoots basic issues, and escalates more complex issues when necessary.
  4. Operates audio and video equipment to record and copy digital files, films and tapes.
  5. Maintains equipment inventory and conducts security checks of equipment.
  6. May demonstrate or instruct others on the use of audio and video equipment.
  7. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; no previous experience required.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform repairs to audio and video equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge of inventory management practices.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.

Conditions of Employment

  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
