Summary

Provides media, computer, and instructional support to students, faculty and staff. Oversees, maintains, and cleans computer and technical equipment; prepares instructional materials and purchase requisitions; assists with group instruction; maintains inventory. May assist with grading homework, quizzes, exams, laboratory assignments and laboratory demonstrations. May proctor exams and assist with record keeping. Leads and guides the work of others.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintains, troubleshoots, and provides access to audio/video equipment, computers, and other instructional equipment.
  2. Prepares and/or distributes course materials, as appropriate to the course of instruction, which may include tests, handouts, supplies, and/or other relevant materials; may participate in group and/or individual instruction; may proctor exams.
  3. Instructs users on proper operation and care of instructional equipment.
  4. May assist instructors with grading homework, quizzes and exams; may assist with laboratory demonstrations/tests and laboratory assignments.
  5. Organizes and catalogs instructional media used by instructors and academic units.
  6. Performs some clerical duties, which may include answering phones, assisting students, preparing correspondence and/or informational materials, and maintaining files.
  7. Assists in ordering, care, maintenance, and utilization of department equipment, supplies, keys, and inventories.
  8. May perform minor repairs on instructional equipment.
  9. May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
  10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform repairs to audio and video equipment.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of college level academic environments and procedures.
  • Skill in the use of operating basic office equipment.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and training to end users.
  • Knowledge of telephone answering and referral services.
  • Organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Clerical, word processing, and/or office skills.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
