Summary

Oversees and coordinates the administrative functions, team preparation support, and logistical operations of an NCAA Division 1 intercollegiate team sports program. Coordinates fiscal and budgetary management, facilities and resources management, student-athlete development activities, NCAA compliance requirements, and special projects as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manages all team travel including transportation, meals, lodging, practice location and scheduling.
  2. Travels with team and coordinates travel logistics when on the road; coordinates disbursements of travel advances and cash for incidental travel expenses.
  3. Coordinates team video operation, production, and exchange with competing schools.
  4. Coordinates and/or assists with all team access and community service activities related to the program.
  5. Directs purchasing and coordinates maintenance of all equipment and apparel.
  6. Coordinates the day-to-day fiscal affairs of the program, to include budget tracking and expenditure monitoring.
  7. Assists with on-campus recruitment logistics, to include arranging travel itineraries, scheduling on-campus visits, coordinating academic appointments, and arranging lodging accomodations, for prospective student athletes.
  8. Coordinates student-athlete personal improvement programs, serving as liaison to department's life skills coordinator; serves as liaison to compliance office, coordinating completion and maintenance of compliance records.
  9. Serves as liaision to Student-Athlete Services Staff for all student-athlete academic matters.
  10. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to utilize ground transportation to travel to various locations within a specified area.
  • Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.
  • Knowledge of travel/lodging planning and scheduling.
  • Ability to communicate with, advise, and counsel athletes from a wide range of social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to assess and develop procurement specifications and coordinate purchasing activities in area of specialty.
  • Organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures.

Conditions of Employment

  • Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required in this position.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
