Summary

Manages and coordinates the integrated oprational infrastructure of a large, multi-faceted operating services unit of the University. Prepares financial and operational analyses and reports. Audits current procedures to monitor and improve efficiency of operations. Manages the day-to-day activities of one or more unit line functions as appropriate. May deputize for the head of the unit.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Oversees and manages special events for the Department, including meeting with customers, negotiating prices and fees, planning and coordinating special events operations with other divisions within the Department.
  2. Oversees, manages, and supervises the daily cashiering activities of all parking structures, including cash and/or credit card receipts, distribution and/or refunds, and maintenance of departmental records.
  3. Directly supervises a wide range of customer relations, parking services, traffic control and special events personnel.
  4. Oversees and manages coordination of traffic control for all special events.
  5. Plans, oversees, and manages coordination of hooding meters, requests for no-cite zones, and setting up barriers for special events.
  6. Ensures Customer Relations area maintains compliance with departmental security, audit procedures, all requirements of UNM cash handling procedures; oversight of all inernal controls for the area follows departmental policies and procedures.
  7. Develops and drafts proposals and/or collaborative agreements for new and/or revised strategic policies, programs and operating procedures, ensuring compliance with all regulatory oversight; develops and maintains area policies and procedures as needed.
  8. Designs and develops project plans to implement new policies, programs, initiatives, and operating processes of strategic significance to the unit.
  9. Maintains compliance with departmental security, audit procedures, and UNM policy.
  10. Chairs weekly special events meetings.
  11. Approves and inputs system overrides.
  12. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  13. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Work involves occasional exposure to light surface-road and parking lot/structure traffic.
  • Moderate physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds; walking and standing on pavement for up to 6 hours a day.
  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
