Summary

Provides security and escort sevices for cash deposits across campus. Picks up deposits and delivers deposit bags on a regular basis, or as needed by departments. Provides assistance for processing departments deposits into cashiering system.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Escorts cashiers to and from satellite cashier windows on UNM campus.
  2. Picks up deposits on a daily, weekly, or as-needed basis from various departments.
  3. Delivers deposit bags to various departments, and maintains logbook of cash coming and out of main campus cashiering office.
  4. Provides assistance for processing department deposits into the cashiering system, including counting cash, processing money lists, and credit card reports.
  5. Operates a university motor vehicle, as necessary, to pick up and deliver monies and individuals.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
  • Ability to perform simple accounting procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to drive motor vehicles.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of a commercial passenger vehicle.
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.

Conditions of Employment

  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Ability to secure and maintain a valid UNM Driver's License.
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

The University of New Mexico provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
